What to Expect

Pine Valley Animal Clinic has a patient centered practice philosophy – this is the way we can achieve optimum wellness in your pet. To achieve maximum health, a strong relationship with our patients and their families is needed. It is all about building trust through everyone’s commitment to our patient’s health.

Annual Physical Exams for Pets are Important

It is very important for all pets to have a full physical exam annually to monitor changes in your pet’s
health. A physical exam done every year on a dog or a cat is equivalent to a person having one every 4
(cats) to 7 (dogs) years. Conditions discovered early can be treated and sometimes reversed. Sick or
senior pets need examinations more frequently. Dr. Yelen will check the health of your pet from nose tip
to tail.  And then he will take the time to discuss his findings with you.

Referrals are Sometimes Recommended

In some circumstances, Dr. Yelen will refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas
such as internal medicine or surgery.

Hospitalization

At the Pine Valley Animal Clinic, we do not hospitalize patients overnight.

Dr. Yelen believes that if a dog or cat is sick enough to require overnight hospitalization it also requires overnight monitoring.  We simply refuse to leave a sick patient alone unattended; too many things can go wrong.  Pets do better in their familiar, stress-free home environment, and we do everything we can to see them go home.  But if your dog or cat is too sick to be at home it will be attended to by the excellent staff at the London Regional Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital.

Our Facility

Our clinic is clean and well equipped and maintained. Our patients enjoy kennels with blankets and a
staff dedicated to making sure they are as comfortable as possible. Our goal is to lower the stress for our
patients.

Lowering Stress in our Patients

As pet owners, we at the Pine Valley Animal Clinic know how stressful it can be to get a dog or,
especially, a cat to the clinic. Dr. Yelen has made it a point to learn various techniques to minimize these
visits. These techniques can be customized for individual pets, but they all start at home before the
visit. Please inquire for more details.
